Chief Executive's Welcome

We are aiming to be the pre-eminent State Government strategic land use agency committed to the sustainable development of South Australia.

We will also lead the State Government's relationship with Local Government and recognise the important role Councils play in delivering local services and infrastructure.

To meet the challenge to make South Australia an attractive place to live, work and invest, the Department's focus is of strategic leadership for the State in regards to economic development, housing affordability, liveability, job creation and an effective approach to climate change. Our aim is to develop a culture that will deliver outstanding outcomes in these areas, whilst maintaining credibility, integrity and trust with all stakeholders.

The next three decades will be one of the most challenging periods South Australia may ever face as it faces an increasingly ageing population.

To tackle this, South Australia needs to recruit as many new skilled workers over these coming decades. This population growth also needs to occur sustainably to ensure that our most valuable environmental, agricultural and tourism assets are protected. All of this also needs to be supported through the implementation of modern, efficient and effective transport and infrastructure.

This activity will drive the Department in collaboration with other State Government agencies, Local Government, the private sector and the community.
